October International Bhikkhuni Day

Carolina Buddhist Vihara celebrated International Bhikkhuni Day on 30th September 2018. The participants observed the ten monastic precepts and meditated. They then listened to a Dhamma talk about the significance of the day and Queen Maha Pajapathi Gothami's role in the establishment of the bhikkhuni order.

After the Buddha puja and noon dana, an interesting discussion based on the lives of the arahat theris whose spiritual and worldly striving to gain liberation caused "sanvega" and awe in those present.

Finally together we sang the song commemorating the bhikkhunis who were placed foremost in various categories by the Buddha.
