(Video looks blank but it is there.)

A Talk on Love and Compassion

by Ven Bhikkhuni Sudhamma. It is based on a meeting she had with ... some college students in the wake of the Virginia Tech massacre

(sorry, half of it is missing and so this is nearly useless; will try to recover the rest)

"The Monk Story"

Beautiful video of a young monk who shares with us his daily life.
(After seeing this you may want to go forth, too.)

Awesome scholarly lecture:

"The Past and Future of Buddhism"

A distinguished scholar of Buddhism, Lewis Lancaster founded the Electronic Cultural Atlas Initiative to use the latest computer technology to map the spread of various strands of Buddhism from the distant past to the present. Series: "Burke Lectureship on Religion & Society"
Texting disaster
A poll found that 21% of drivers recently texted while driving, even though 95% knew it's dangerous.  When a driver is texting it makes a wreck 23 times more likely to happen.  Up to a fourth of deaths by vehicles in the USA happen due to drivers texting!  Mindfulness (Step 7 of the 8-fold path) doesn't begin and end on meditation cushions; we need to bring mindful care to every activity.  Unfortunately, multi-tasking hinders mindful awareness --a bad idea any time but especially while operating heavy machinery such as a car.

Please share these videos with anyone who just might be tempted to text behind the wheel:

(1)  Public Service Ad
The scary stats may not change behavior, but this scary anti-texting advertisement, made in Wales, may do it!  It shows a teenage driver and friends giggling over a text message (a message to a guy that her friend in the backseat, Jules, likes him), just before they hit a car.  The video slowly plays out the whole scene to the horrible end. (It looks real, but they are actors.) US television won't play the ad; too graphic.

(2)  Truly Arrogant
A girl on Dr. Phil show admits that she texts while driving.  Dr. Phil has an opinion.

(3)  How He Died
News footage from Elk Grove, CA, of an 18 year-old texting driver's deadly accident.  Will these be your relatives, next?
